FIFA Women’s World Cup schedule and format

The month-long World Cup kicks off on July 20 when co-hosts New Zealand and Australia face Norway and Ireland respectively.

The group stage runs from the opening day until August 3. The tournament will then take a breather for one day before the knockout stage kicks off on August 5, with the final taking place on August 20.

Check out 7NEWS.com.au’s dedicated schedule page for easy access to the dates, times and locations of every match.

Do-or-die matches kick off with the Round of 16 stage featuring clashes between group winners and runners-up.

The eight winners will then progress to the quarter-finals, which will decide the four semi-finalists.

From there, the two losing teams move into a third-place playoff while the two winners reach the final and battle to win the World Cup.
