Colombia’s FIFA Women’s World Cup team has been rocked after teenage star Linda Caicedo collapsed at training on Thursday.

The 18-year-old, who scored on debut against South Korea on Tuesday, was running with teammates when she suddenly stopped and grabbed at her chest.

Video emerged of Caicedo then lying down as concerned teammates and then medical staff rushed to her aid.

A team medal staff member later told media that Caicedo had recovered from the incident.

“Linda is very tired,” a Colombian FA medical staff member claimed to media.

“What happened was just a symptom of all the stress and physical demands. She is well and all is back to normal.”

Coach’s Sam Kerr plan slammed with another late call coming

It’s unclear whether Caicedo will be able to play in Sunday’s match against Germany.

The young star was one of her team’s best against South Korea, capping a remarkable World Cup debut three years after beating cancer.

Diagnosed with ovarian cancer at just 15, the youngster had to put her football dreams on ice, having already debuted for Colombian team America de Cali and the national team.

“At the time, I didn’t think I could play professionally again because of all the treatments and surgeries I had to go through,” she told FIFA.

“Mentally, it was a very difficult moment in my life. I’m forever grateful that it happened when I was very young. I was able to recover, I also had my family’s support, and I feel very good now. What happened made me grow. I feel thankful and happy to be here.”

Colombian head coach Nelson Abadía gave the young player the hope she needed, something she remembers to this day.

“He said, ‘no, just relax … you’re going to come back’.”

And come back she did.

Upon her return, Caicedo was named player of the tournament at the 2022 Copa America Femenina, played in a youth World Cup final and won two league titles and a Golden Boot award.
