Katrina Gorry has paid tribute to her daughter, Harper, on the morning of the Matildas FIFA Womens World Cup massive semi-final appearance against England.

Gorry gave birth to Harper in 2021 after undergoing IVF in Europe, and during this tournament Harper has become a feature, regularly seen at Matildas’ training camps and at games.

The 31-year old, who celebrated her own birthday on Monday, took to Instagram on Wednesday to wish her daughter a happy second birthday.

“Happy 2nd birthday bubba 😘 you are so incredibly loved and I feel so lucky to be known as ‘Harper’s mum’,” she wrote.

“Enjoy your day bubba, I have a feeling it’s going to be a special one.”

And Gorry’s Matildas teammates were also quick to celebrate, sending their well wishes to the toddler.

Star goalkeeper and quarter-final player of the match Mackenzie Arnold wrote, “Happy birthday to our cute little Harps,” which was echoed by Ellie Carpenter who said, “Happy birthday harpy girl.”

Arsenal defender and Matildas vice-captain Steph Catley and Alanna Kennedy also joined in.

It has been an emotional rollercoaster for Gorry who is the fiancee of Swedish player Clara Markstedt.

Markstedt’s father passed away earlier last week.

And in Saturday’s epic quarter-final against France, Gorry was trusted with Australia’s sixth penalty attempt and didn’t let her country down, rocketing her strike into the back of the net before kissing her wrist, pointing to the sky and rocking her arms in celebration.

The last gesture was in homage to Harper, and the latter- a sentimental moment for her Markstedt’s father.

The Matildas all donned black armbands against France to pay tribute, while Gorry went one step further though, penning a special tribute to her fiancee’s father on her wrist.
